Sometimes we think we know the world, and just when we start to get cocky, BUMP! A reality check pops in. I had one of those today, and it was humbling. I think that’s the point the Universe — God — whatever you call that force that slaps us when we don’t pay attention was making.
I care greatly about trust and leadership, and I can blow it when I get reacted, which I did today. It takes me a while to get over being stupid. I try to remember we are all stupid. And brilliant. And clumsy. And graceful. I forgot that for awhile today, and it bit me.
This picture is the picture of the fuselage of an airplane on a ship. My husband, Larry, and I were walking the other day on the bay and it took us a while to figure out that was an airplane on the deck of that ship! Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t see the bodies of many airplanes on big ships like that, and so it took awhile to actually let in the image! That’s the body of an airplane. Really!
I think many of us are rambling around in our heads these days, trying to make sense of the state the world is in. It is disconcerting and healthy too, in that it rattles our complacency. I did some apologizing today, and I also made a stand for community, all at the same time. Even though the outreach was messy, it was real, and for that I am glad.
You may be confused and that’s OK. I got what I needed from the experience, and I am sharing that I think it’s better to be messy and authentic, than perfect and hidden. And that what isn’t obvious deserves some study, even when it’s painful.
